Training Sessions for Parish Ministers of Christian Initiation 2020-2021 “Go therefore and make disciples of all nations…” Mt. 28:19
To support Pastors and Parish Lay Leaders/Catechists in their Ministry of Initiation, the Archdiocese is offering Training Sessions on Christian Initiation this Fall and Winter. In consideration of the Pandemic, sessions will start on Zoom with the possibility of switching to in–person meetings (should the future situation allow). This training is for Current and New Parish Christian Initiation Leaders working with Adults or Children of catechetical age who seek to become Catholic Christians. The goal of this initiative is to support leaders in their understanding of the Process of Initiation as designed by the Church (RCIA) and assist them in their parish ministry. Sessions will explore the Vision of the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA), a Vision that has the power to shape every aspect of parish life. Participants will have an opportunity to listen to a presenter or watch a brief video on the topics below, engage in a discussion, share their own experiences, pray and reflect together, will receive new handouts and much more. Topics include:
The Church’s Vision of Christian Initiation for Adults and Children of catechetical age.
The Catechetical Sessions in each of the four (4) Periods of Initiation
Preparation and celebration of the Liturgical Rites
How to handle previously Baptized Candidates?
