There are two cycles in the Church’s Year; the Extraordinary Seasons (Advent, Christmas, Lent and Easter) and the Ordinary Time. The word ”ordinary” comes from Latin ordinarius meaning regular, or of usual order. The Ordinary Time has two parts: the shorter one celebrated in winter, and the longer one stretching over summer and fall. During this Time, the Church proclaims the presence of the Kingdom of God on earth, and calls all Christians to build that Kingdom by works of Mercy, Love and Peace.
